Academic Summer Camps

Our Academic Summer Camps are back for 2024 with Reading, Writing and Math options for Pre-K to 4th grade students. Held at Bennett Day School, these camps are taught by a licensed teacher and combine the fun of summertime with the academic content needed to “bridge the gap” that often comes with longer school breaks.

Academic camps are offered from 9am to 12pm. Campers must attend both weeks of camp, but please reach out if you have a special circumstance. Additionally, campers can join Bennett Day Camp from 12:00pm to 3:00pm each afternoon where they will enjoy lunch and participate in traditional day camp fun.

Reading Enrichment Camp

This camp will use a multi-sensory and systematic approach to Reading instruction to provide literacy exposure to elementary aged students in a fun and engaging way.

Students will focus on phonics instruction, literature exposure and typical, fun camp activities, too! Using a low instructor to student ratio is key in this camp and ensures successful delivery of reading, spelling and writing strategies to bridge the gap to summer learning. Through repetitive,  structured and individualized lessons, students will leave camp with a better understanding of the foundations of phonics, as well as the process of writing.  This camp will be perfect for both students who are hoping to improve their reading ability and students who love to read already. Click on the grade level below for more specific details.

Creative Writing Camp

This camp will leave students excited about writing. Students will learn writing skills through fun and engaging activities with grade-level peers and get a chance to test their creativity through unique writing projects. This course will also help students with handwriting - utilizing sensory and fine motor activities throughout. Using a low instructor to student ratio is key in this camp and ensures successful delivery of content to bridge the gap to summer learning and encourage a love of writing in all participants.

At the end of this camp, students will have a story book written and illustrated that is then sent off to a publisher and made into a real book, sure to be treasured for many years to come.
